Balance of Power is a facilitated simulation workshop in which participants build generation portfolios, bid into a simplified Australian electricity market, and navigate the competing pressures of affordability, reliability, emissions and investment.
Electricity-market decisions involve competing technical, commercial and policy objectives. Balance of Power places participants inside those decisions, allowing them to experience the consequences of different strategies and discuss what those results reveal about the real energy transition.
Invest in solar, wind, storage, gas, coal, nuclear and demand-side flexibility while managing your budget, construction times and evolving generation portfolio.
Submit sealed bids across day, evening and night periods while responding to changing demand, weather, available generation and market conditions.
Compare strategies and explore what the results reveal about reliability, flexibility, emissions, investment timing and market design.
Balance of Power can be adapted to different levels of market knowledge and different organisational objectives.
A concise introduction to the platform and workshop experience for leadership teams, prospective hosts and industry events.
A structured session combining simulation, participant decision-making and a facilitated discussion of the results.
A tailored workshop developed around a particular audience, energy-transition theme or stakeholder discussion.
Balance of Power was developed by Dr Antonin Demazy de Fortet, Founder and Principal of GG Advisory, drawing on more than 20 years of international experience across energy systems, strategy and emerging technologies.
